Nick Marzano

NIck Marzano
Nick was born in Wollongong, Australia, where he obtained his BSc in Medical Biotechnology before completing a PhD applying single-molecule fluorescence approaches to study chaperone-mediated protein folding. He expanded this work during his postdoctoral research to interrogate more complex chaperone systems, while also collaborating with researchers at the University of Western Australia to better understand how programmable RNA-binding proteins recognise specific RNA sequence targets. He joined the Benesch Group in 2026, where, alongside Phillip Kukura, Lisa Cabrita, and John Christodoulou, he is developing mass photometry approaches to study the kinetics and dynamics of ribosome function and how these processes contribute to protein folding.
